In 2002, LOOP POOL was presented as a large scale mirrored compass devised, designed and built by The Yellow House and Art Creating Society, sited in front of the Liver Building at the Liverpool Waterfront.

The viewer approaches the cube shaped mirror, and is led along the compass points "drawn" into the grass and by the voices seemingly coming from the mirror. As the viewer approaches they see themselves and the Pier Head reflected in the 4 mirror faces of the compass. as they get closer they see themselves and their city, now, but on closer inspection they are invited to look into small viewing holes on the mirrors where they see images of cities linked to Liverpool and in particular to Yellow House.

Moving images of Koln, Gdansk and Prague. You can hear people from those cities praising the city of Liverpool. The viewer is here, now, but also in another city and at another time.

The vision is now turning into reality. Construction begins. We begin by marking the points of the compass on the ground. Young people of Yellow House working with Philip from Art Creating Society. The thoughts and ideas of LooPPool now turn into the structure. The compass begins to take shape, hard work but feeling great at the end of the day. and the weather was good to us.

Another scorcher. A long hard day. Building and erecting the compass. Drilling screwing, lifting and carrying, sweat and hard work in the name of art - all to produce the vision.
People working together, the public seeing art being created, asking questions, discussing the work, telling us their thoughts - this is real work, this is art, this means something to the artists and to the City and its people. This is beautiful work.

Today we completed the construction of our LooPPool compass on Liverpool's waterfront.
Our Dream and vision is now complete...

The construction of LooPPool by the Yellow House and Art Creating Society has been well documented by the press. ITV's Granada Reports, Liverpool's Channel 1 TV, BBC Radio Merseyside, The Liverpool Echo and a documentary group from Luxembourg making a film about Liverpool have all contributed to publisizing this monumentous creation of art by the young people of Liverpool infront of the Liver Buildings on Liverpool's waterfront.
